Monthly Newsletter (back to top)

Approach publishes its own monthly newsletter. In each issue you can find many interesting stories from our students and teachers. There are also pictures from the excursions they go on and the activities in which they participate. Useful facts and important information are also included in every issue.

The following is a summary of some of the sections:

International Student Issues – Obtain valuable immigration and visa information.
Writing Contest Winners – Every month Approach students are asked to write on a certain topic. Their papers are evaluated by the teachers, and at the International Lunch the winners are announced.
Students' Writing Corner – Selected students write articles on topics of their choosing.
A Little Bit of History – Included in this column are stories you don't always read about in history books – from obscure but influential political figures to the evolution of ice cream.
Poem of the Month – As the title implies, the newsletter will have a new poem every month.
December Activities Scrapbook – Photos and comments about some of the activities our students participate in.
Tips of the Month – Approach teachers pass on some fun and helpful ways for you to improve your English.

Listed below are downloadable versions of our monthly issues (pdf format):

Activities Calendar (back to top)

There are a variety of activities constantly happening at Approach to help our students get better acquainted with American life and culture.

We print a calendar every month of the different activities happening for that month and students often receive class credit for attending these events. For example, every month there are two or three popcorn movie sessions where our students can gather together in front of our giant television and watch a movie.

Also, on a monthly basis, we have an International Lunch day when students and staff members bring in food from their respective countries. There are also many games including ping-pong, chess, and golf tournaments on this day. We often visit the Museum of Fine Art , the Museum of Science, the Harvard Natural History Museum, the Boston Public Library or the Kennedy Library. We also like to try eating out at restaurants like Fire and Ice, The Hard Rock Café, or The Border Café. We take historic tours of Boston , go ice skating, skiing, bowling, play pool, attend concerts, plays, dances and parties at the local pubs. We like to have fun and give our students a taste of the city of Boston.

Approach Internet Community (back to top)

Most students are not familiar with this safe and interesting internet environment. Orkut is an online community that connects people through a network of trusted friends.

Approach has its community open to students, former students, teachers, and staff members to participate in discussions and to keep in touch.

If you would like to participate, please send an e-mail with your first and last names to csenkal@approachusa.com, and you'll receive an invitation. All you will have to do is to accept the invitation and follow the instructions.
