Housing Placement (up)
We encourage any international student coming to Boston to participate in the Housing Placement Program. Through this program, our ISS (International Student Services) arranges housing with an American family, or with other students, giving the international student an affordable option and excellent opportunity to practice English while learning about American culture.
Our homes are carefully screened and selected. We provide the student with a room in a home near the school or by acessible public transportation. The friendship between students and their American families can last a lifetime.
Room at an American family home:
- Private furnished room with breakfast and dinner included: from $500.00 to $725.00/month.
- Double furnished room with breakfast and dinner included: from $375.00 to $650.00/month.
Room with other students:
- Private furnished room without meals: from $475.00 to $700.00/ month.
- Double furnished room without meals: from $350.00 to 550.00/ month.
Airport Transfer(up)
We can arrange transportation from the airport to your host family or apartment when you arrive in Boston. To request an airport pick up please complete and submit the airport transfer request form. You may also choose this service when leaving or moving from one place to another.
Cost: $70.00 per trip includes a one-hour wait in the event of flight delays. There is a $30.00 fee per extra hour when requested. Other traveling arrangement costs are available upon request.
Health Insurance (up)
The cost of major medical treatment and hospitalization in the USA is very expensive; just a week in the hospital can cost thousands of dollars. For this reason, it is very important that students purchase medical insurance. If you have a student visa and cannot show evidence that you have medical insurance coverage during your stay in the United States, you are required by law to obtain health insurance upon your arrival.
Cost: Ranging from $39.00 to $105.00 per month depending on the age of the student.
University Placement (up)
We can make educational dreams a reality. The task of selecting and applying to the right undergraduate or graduate institution is difficult even for American students. Most international students would never apply to a college because they think it is too expensive or too difficult to be accepted. Sometimes they simply don't understand the American Education System. We enjoy close working relationships with many excellent American universities and colleges. We have helped hundreds of students gain admission to these institutions. Our University Placement Service advisors help students choose a university, complete and submit applications, fulfill any English language requirements, and prepare for university life.
The Application Process: Familiarity with the American university admissions process allows us to help assemble the strongest possible application dossier for each student. After reviewing the application, we recommend five academic institutions at which the student application will be competitive. We guarantee an offer of admission to at least one of these institutions. We then submit the application to the target schools, following up with any phone calls and additional information as necessary. We notify you immediately once we receive an acceptance letter.
You can expect two types of acceptance: Full acceptance means that you meet all admissions requirements. Conditional acceptance usually means you will need to meet the school's English language requirement before the starting date.
Fulfilling English Language Requirements: If a student is already academically qualified for university admission, but lacks the required English proficiency, we may obtain a Conditional Letter of Acceptance. This letter, issued by a college or university, states that the student will be enrolled once the institution's English requirement is fulfilled. Nearly every American college or university requires students to speak, read, and write English at an acceptable level. Most require a minimum TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score, which may vary from institution to institution.
Immigration Advising (up)
We are a reliable resource for advising on immigration matters. This includes issuance of I-20s, maintenance of immigration status, and employment options. Regardless of which country you are from, or what type of visa you hold, you will need to comply with many regulations that govern international students. It is important to know these regulations and obey them as long as you are in the USA as a student. Failure to do so could mean deportation or the inability to reenter the USA under another immigration status. This service is offered by appointment only. See some of the FAQs here.
